Manic Mail

Manic Mail is a co-op couch based chaotic game where you and friend rush to keep the post office running. Keeping customers happy, making deliveries on time and stamping parcels correctly is what its all about in this game created in unity as part of a 4 person team.

Manic Mail was inspired by games such as Overcooked and Plate Up. The goal was re-create the fun chaotic nature of both games and bring the theme into a postal setting.

As the Lead Designer of the project, I was responsible for:

Design documentation, Level design, Level Block out, Optimisation, 3D Modelling and Texturing, UI Development, Game Mechanics, Gameplay flow and User Testing

This game has made it to several events such as COMX held during my first year in university. This is a prestigious student work showcase event my team and I presented to future students to represent the work being done at the University of Gloucestershire.

In my second year at university, the development team and I, were asked to present the game at an open day. This was the first time the university had showcased a games project during an open day event and we were very successful at bringing attention to the games course on the day and now the university are considering making this a standard practice.

Later in my second year , the team and I were asked to go to the next level as the University asked us if we could present our game Manic Mail to their stakeholders at an event they called Future Park.
This was a very big deal as work we had produced in the first year was now being asked to represent the university in front of their board members, stakeholders and VIP guests, one guest of which happened to the the Director of GCHQ who closed the event with a speech. You can find out more about the event in this newspaper article.

Manic Mail V1.3 Now in Development

As part of the 1.3 Update, I have been working on modular design theory, creating modular walls and doors which fit together to quickly build and iterate future levels of the game. These assets are also intended to be used in a player level editor as part of the coming update. Manic Mail will also be appearing on steam along with this update, currently the game is only available via Itch.io here: Manic Mail

In 3ds Max I used different layers of the sweep modifier using splines to quickly iterate and generate modular walls which I then sent to unity for testing seen below.

Manic Mail is still in development so more content will be available in the future, please check out my other projects.
